ECLC encourages parents to be actively involved in the school. Don't be modest! As a parent-run organization, what happens at and with the school depends upon the contributions of each parent. The school supports several volunteer programs:
* Room Parents: Each class has one room parent who works with the classroom teachers in the organization of special class events and assisting with field trips throughout the school year.
* Busy Bees: These volunteers assist with the preparation of classroom art materials and decorations for the school.
* Library Volunteers: These parents assist in maintaining the library. They work with the librarian by reading books and helping the children borrow books to take home each week.
*Reading Program Volunteers: These parents attend a one-day training session aimed at teaching them to facilitate early childhood reading. Each Reading Program Volunteer works 1 hour per week giving 15 minute one-to-one reading sessions to 4 children to either read one-to-one to them or have the child read to the volunteer if they are able.
You can also become directly involved in the management of the school. ECLC is advised and run by a Board of ECLC parents. The six-member School Board is elected from the parents of the ECLC students and serve for one-year terms.
If you have an interest in becoming involved, please contact the school office for more information.
Another way to become involved is through the ECLC Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
